Cool and easy hairstyles (braid)

Step 1: Blow-dry hair straight to make it easier to braid. Part hair in the center.

Step 2: Separate out a one-inch section on both sides of part — two inches back from the hairline. Take a two-inch piece above each ear, and clip out of the way. Pull the rest of hair into a low bun. Bobby-pin it against the nape of neck, and tuck in the ends.

Step 3: Braid each of the top sections down; pin the ends into your bun. Then braid the side sections over the top of your head. Pin the ends against your head, and smooth with pomade.

When you need fuss-free hair, a triple pony ensures no strands will slip out.

How-to: Make a ponytail at your crown. Make two more down the nape of your neck, tying together all three with an elastic at the bottom.

Tip: Use a lock of hair from underneath each ponytail to hide your plain elastics!

How-To:

1. Blow-dry hair straight to make it easier to braid. Make a deep side part, then used a mixed bristle brush to smooth down frizz and flyaways.

2. Start French-braiding a three-inch piece of hair at the full side of your part. Continue down your head.

3. Pull the rest of your hair into a low side ponytail, leaving a two-inch piece of hair (might need to be larger, depending on the thickness of your hair) outside of the ponytail.

4. Wrap the piece around the top of your ponytail, securing with a bobby-pin.

5. Spritz with hairspray for hold.

PIN CURL TWIST
Time it took us: 5 minutes
Works on:
· Medium or long hair
· Sorta dirty hair

Stuff to have handy:
· Bobby pins
· Hairspray

How to:
Step 1
Brush out a 2-inch-wide bang section and secure back with two bobby pins. Loosen a bit with your fingers by tugging at the hairline.
Step 2
Now you're left with a section of hair over each ear. Run your index finger from behind your left ear up to the crown of your head. Smooth this section of hair into a low ponytail behind your left ear then twist the pony twice toward the back of your head. Secure the remaining tail with bobby pins, then repeat on the right side. Connect the two twists with a bobby pin.
Step 3
And that leaves the always fashionable "mullet" at the nape of your neck. You can leave it like that. We're all done.
Step 4
Just kidding. Back to the mullet. Hold your left index and middle finger under the bobby pins in Step 2, and roll a messy 1-inch section of hair up around your fingers to create a coil. Pinch it, slip it off your fingers and secure with a bobby pin. Don't attach it to the twists in Step 2 or you'll pull them out. Repeat with remaining hair until it's all pinned up.
Step 5
Mist with hairspray.

Waterfall braid

Step 1: To begin, separate out a chunk of hair above your ear and begin doing a simple french braid downwards. This gives a clean start to the style before we start the waterfall braid. Step 2: Once you have braided down to right at your ear, we will move into the waterfall braid. You will start this by taking more hair into your braid, as if you were continuing a french braid (red piece).Step 3: You will then drop the front most piece of the braid, highlighted in blue.
Step 4: In order to replace to piece you dropped and continue the braid, now pick up a chunk of hair from directly behind where you want the braid to lie. Make this piece an even size with the others in your braid.
Step 5: Continue the braid like you would’ve normally, had you not dropped the blue piece, replacing it with the green piece, as shown. You will now continue steps 2-4, replacing the blue piece with the red/pink piece, adding hair to the yellow piece, and eventually dropping the yellow piece in the next succession. Get it? This technique takes practice, but after a few tries you will be able to create this consistently. Step 6: Now that you’ve got the hang of the waterfall braid, braid using this drop technique all the way across the head until you reach the other side. I like to leave a little chunk free in the front, but it’s optional. You’ll see how this plays in later.
Step 7: Before moving onto the second braid, braid you first one down a few inches, french braiding in about half of the front chunk we left free in the last step. Secure with a rubber band or clip for now.
Step 8: Now we are ready to start the second braid. Going back to the initial side of the head, french braid down another inch or so, creating a little bit of space between the first braid and the soon-to-be second one.
Step 9: Begin another waterfall braid, feeding the dropped pieces from the first waterfall into the second. To make this look really woven, try to feed the dropped pieces from the first braid straight into the sections that will be dropped in the second braid, as shown. Braid all the way across, maintaining an inch or two gap between the two braids.
Step 10: Now we need to connect the top braid and the bottom braid, and this is simple. Un-secure the top braid and combine it with the end of the bottom braid, braiding downwards. As you do this, french braid in the rest of the front strands we left free earlier (this gives a cascading, smooth look to the front).
Step 11: Almost there! Just gather the rest of the hair and sweep it to the side of the braided ends, securing it it a low side ponytail. All done!
